TYRE & ITN Convertor

Postby Tony B » Wed Oct 10, 2018 12:59 pm

Anyone else having issues? - when I load either of these it tells me that "this page cant load google maps correctly". I can use "HERE" maps with ITN Convertor but they have a rubbish feel to them!

Means I cant easily pull together routes for anything at the moment....

Didnt tyre do away with google maps in favour of another platform ?.
Tyre works on my laptop...but not well..
It is still an ongoing upgrade (by tyre people) so i understand..
Upgrade tyre to new version each time you are prompted...it is improving

not sure its an upgrade issue G as ITN Convertor (my preferred bit of software) isn't loading google maps at the moment

have you tried your laptop today? - I think its an issue that is very recent

google search suggests its the developers API certificate :?: - its strange that its the same on TYRE and ITN convertor on my pc! - it works ok with other map providers but they dont have the same zoom functionality as google maps, maybe itll magically cure itself in the next few days

Yep had a terrible time with Tyre, ITN Converter and Route Converter to the point that I nearly decided to ditch pre planned routes for the France trip altogether. Not sure what the alternative is now, but very interested to learn if there is one.

I use Routeconverter and started having problems soon after I came back from holiday. This is the explanation that the developer put up on his forum:

Dear all,

starting with July 16th 2018 Google will turn off the easy to use Online Edition of RouteConverter:

the usage of an API key will be mandatory - this might limit the functionality of all old RouteConverter releases
providing a credit card for API keys will be mandatory - I won't provide my credit card for the existing API keys so all RouteConverter users who haven't added a private API key won't be able to use the map in RouteConverter
Details to Googles announcements can be found here and here

The following steps lead towards your own API Key:

Go to https://developers.google.com/maps/docum...et-api-key
Choose "Maps, Routes, Places"
Type in a project name
Add a Billing Account
Add the API Key in RouteConverter in the initial dialog or later in the preferences at Extras/Options/Paths & Services
Optional: Configure Billing Budgets & Alerts

Not doing this will lead to an error message that looks like this:
[Image: uc?export=view&id=1X6x3hvfkTm3aTawK97WDikgwib7duGUz]

Let's see how this turns out. Maybe I'm trying to implement the map based on OpenLayers or I'm trying to focus on the Offline Edition. Any help is welcome ;-)

I am now using an "offline version" of Routeconverter here:
https://www.routeconverter.com/stable-releases/en

I have had some success planning routes using this. the Open Steetmap maps do look very different, but the roads appear to be in the right places!. The main problem I have had, is that the route planning software doesn't always work and is a bit cranky. Under options>routing it offers Beelin, Brouter or GraphHopper- so far BRouter seems to work best, but I have noticed if you change a route it sometimes shows the old routing as well as the new, so has to be restarted to clear it. It shows mileage but not estimated time.

Good luck :)

Thanks all, I need to try a different pc just in case it’s my heavily locked down work laptop thats contributing to the issue but it does look like google are the issue!

At least with ITN converter I can chose different map providers, HERE maps seems the better one but it simply doesn’t have the same visuals on the smaller roads - which is a nightmare when planning in the alpine areas!!
