Yeh, difficult call, go with a fad or go boring. Probably end up white shaker again. Though quite fancy supermatt claret units with black worktops, oak breakfast bar and green/grey walls. Finished off with a burnt orange chesterfield sofa..

the colour thing joking apart is weird; who'd have thought 20 years ago that grey cars would be so popular? or that having solid green/blue/'whatever' feature walls indoors would be a 'thing'.

judging by the property pics we're seeing online, seems that grey bath/shower suites is the new avocado! guess in 20yrs time buyers will look and go 'eeew grey'.

that said - loving the retro ford colours for the ST's ( or whatever they're badged at this week)....the orange reminds me of the colour range for the mk2 escort. Wonder if the part of the change in colours is in part due to the luminouscity of the paint/depth vs the paint available 20-30yrs back?

Not so sure about grey being a fad as it’s a neutral colour which tend to be the goto colours for most decorating, though at times some shades are more prominent than others. Sticking it on a bathroom suite is a different level though and totally agree on a short life span.

White for sanitary ware regardless of decor in my book. I did find a modern/retro take on a semi inset butler sink, which hooked me, below. White of course, though hopefully more classic than fad. No doubt in time it’ll end up as a planter on the patio with all the other chipped sinks.

Colour quality has defo improved over the years, I’d like to go bold with colours but haven’t got the balls, designer flair or deep pockets to change it if it ends up a dogs dinner.

Had a viewing, asked for some honest feedback, being the first one. Estate agent said it went well and thanked me for all our efforts which made her job so much easier. As those that know there’s living in a house and pretending to live in it when viewed. Got a second viewing next Saturday home office is important to them so been polishing that up in readiness. New wired network, PoE switch, WAN, plenty of outlets and a drinks fridge A few coats of paint and some furnishings to go.

Bought an eBay £30 stand as they were wall mounted previously. Not the best quality for image processing though.

Second viewing by the same people, with husband this time. Wifey liked what she saw last time. Not holding my breath tbh, they gotta sell and are looking at other houses in the area.

Plugged the monitors etc all in, wires everywhere, looks a mess, might remove them for the viewing We are still on copper wire internet at a massive 45mbps with the wind behind it. Contract is expiring soon and have been looking at options. Might get Trooli fttp at some point in the future though no concrete plans yet to run the fibres down the road. Was looking at Starlink which seems a good option in the absence of fibre. Anyone with experience?

In other news, finally got the building warrant today for the lodge subject to a percolation test on a proposed soakaway. We’ll head up in a couple of weeks to dig the hole and call the Bof to stare down it for a few hours.

Overall quite a frustrating planning process nearly a year to get a straightforward planning application through. Got to do it again for the adjacent building plot and potentially a third time if we find our dream plot for a rural self build. Some lessons learnt this time around, gonna play it very differently next time around and see if we can make things happen a bit quicker.

Renovated the outside of the summerhouse/home office, cleaned the roof shingles, replaced some weatherboarding added a bit of paint, just needs a top coat or two. Picked up a couple of nice pieces of cheapish furniture on the bay to dress up the inside space. Though tempted to leave the coffee table/apothecary/chest/whatsit in the lounge!

Luckily my need to deal with estate agents was a long time ago and as I was not in a chain either way was minimal, so can only imagine the hassle involved.

Thanks Rich, gonna be a bit of a mission, though better than hanging about in retirement waiting for god.

My longest ever outstanding job that’s gonna get finished. Had an extension built 22 years ago, left a recess in the front wall for a plaque. Finally getting it made and delivery is imminent. Hopefully fitting will be done pretty pronto!
