I think I mostly agree with Jeff. I'd like to see the following in F1:

1. No stupid aero - just enough to keep the car on the floor;
2. Great big slicks;
3. Big engines and turbos;
4. If they needed to a budget cap to keep it competitive - in reality I would imagine a huge amount of the current budget goes on aero, so if all they had to worry about was a decent chassis, straight-forward wings and a whopping great engine so much the better in my view;
5. Fuel stops - I'd have them back - if anything I'd make them do the race on one set of tyres!

Jeff falling asleep half way through a race is not a sign of boredom it's a sign of old age :D. What you are describing is Thoroughbread GP On steroids. Don't know if you saw Martin Brundle do a piece on driving cars from every era and he really struggle with the Lotus 49. Colin Chapmans first DFV engined Lotus which MB described as an engine a decade ahead of the chassis. Now if you increase the mechanical grip on a 49 and secure the fuel cells :o that would be interesting.

Re motoGP take the rider aids off and see how quick they are compared to the Sheen and Mamola.

The DFV in the 49 (1967 49 with no wings) and Jim Clark driving would be awesome. As to the MotoGP not being quicker than Sheene or Mamola (Or Roberts, Rainey, Lawson, Spencer, Gardner, Schwantz or Doohan) well the bikes are quicker...and Vale is the best ever so not sure your point is correct there.

My point, although lost in translation was to compare the bike hero's of yerteryear against the modern pilots on bikes that are aid free. In the same way as people compare F1 drivers modern and historic.

Neatly making my point for me.....Alonso steals the GP on team orders and Rossi gets 3rd in the US with a broken leg.

What a race eh Jeff Rossi worked hard for that! Fantastic ride and track! That corkscrew section looked mental!

Corkscrew is mental. Great race. Can't wait for GOAT to be on a Ducati next season.
