80’s Sunday - Goodwood

Postby Rexholme » Tue Oct 22, 2019 7:01 pm

Time to get the shoulder pads out, stick on some Spandau Ballet and fire up the Quattro – Goodwood is going back to the 1980s! Time to celebrate the decade that produced some of the most iconic cars and bikes of all time. Legendary machines like the Ferrari Testarossa, Peugeot 205 GTi Honda RC30 and Kawasaki Ninja 900.

For uninitiated, Goodwood Breakfast Club is a FREE motoring show where the visitors and their machines are the stars. There’s no driving – apart a delightful early-morning run to the circuit on some of Sussex’s finest roads.

All visitors to the event need to sign up for a free ticket or better still pre-register your theme related vehicle.

Yep, totally agree. Hopefully weather holds out.

I’m taking my eldest to Brands this weekend too for the Forumla Ford Festival. It will be their first experience of motorsport. A good test of which genes have been inherited

I can now highly recommend the Goodwood Breakfast Club. Despite the morning chill and yesterday’s weather, it was a very good turn out.

Better still, it’s a cracking drive down to Goodwood. I set off from Newlands Corner about 06:30 (I’m local) and dropped in via Milford and Petworth. Afterwards I took a detour and cocked about, via Cocking, and looped back up. Great fun when the traffic allowed.

Nice photos :) It makes me realise how much more variety there was in cars in the 80s!

Nice Alpine and I like the Renault 5 Turbo. Nice to see one 80s Alfa GTV survived the rust!

The roads around Goodwood are very good, we have done runs out that way, but from Buck barn it's about 90 miles and I've been trying to keep the runs I plan down to 70 miles lately.

Love the blue Aston Martin.
The closest I've got to one of those was getting a lift home in one by the owner who'd just bought my MG Midget
Tiger Cat E1 - 2008-2009
Tiger R6 - 2009-2014
Austin Healey Sprite - 2014-2018
Fisher Fury Le Mans - 2018-2019

You know what’s sad, the car I got most excited about was a 205 Rallye  what a looser :D
