SCC Kempton Solo 2019

Postby David T » Wed May 01, 2019 9:25 am

Having joined my local motor club in anticipation of doing some sprints this year, I'm also planning to do some autosolos. Imagine the good bit around the cones at the end of the Car Limits days.

It will be a little while until the car is ready for sprints and I've aquired the relevant safety gear, but for autosolos all I need is some list 1A tyres, i.e. more road-going than my current Toyo R1Rs. Another benefit of doing of autosolos is that your children can compete from age 14, once you yourself have done a couple.

If interested, details of this particular event can be found here: http://southerncarclub.com/?page_id=7912

Cheers,

David.

I've always planned to use the car for some of the things it should be good at. I still enjoy a Sunday run out, but also love the feeling of pushing the car without all the worries of being on the road. Almost got around to it in previous years, but this year decided to get my @rse into gear. :D

Still plan to do the odd track day. CKC Llandow coming up in a couple of weeks. :D

There are loads of local MUK car clubs, Sevenoaks & District MC, TWMC, Mid-Kent etc etc etc.

Autosolos are great fun.

Looks interesting David. :)
Kempton Park is about 20 mins from me, and I notice they meet in Leatherhead which is just 10 mins away. Have you been to any of their meetings yet?

I might pop along to the Kempton event if I'm free on the 26th May.

I guess R888Rs are no better? I have a mostly worn out set on the pug wheels you could borrow if they're any use.

R888 are List 1b. List 1a are used to stop people using semi-slick sticky tyres

Autosolos are a thing as well, my son learnt to drive an a Ex-Greenwood Ford Ka at Autosolos on grass at 14.
