Re: Cadwell Park track day - 6th June
Well, it happened with pics to prove.
I do like this track day organiser Open Track. Get photos included, free tuition and the main man is very friendly and they even supply cakes & doughnuts
Anyway, little review of the day...
...but first - details of a few mods after my little trip to Snetterton 3 weeks ago.
That was when I found I was getting serious fuel starvation issues on left-hand corners with anything less than 3/4 tank of fuel. Also high inlet air temperatures.
Sorted the fuel starvation issue with a small Facet lift-pump (£30) and an alloy swirlpot (£65) which now feeds the main injection pump. Can report it works perfectly now.
Made progress to sorting inlet air temps by moving the air filter to inside the wishbone - should get more fresh, cool air now. A future job will be to improve airflow to the intercooler.
On to the track day...
There are no garages at Cadwell so no point arriving mega early but I still left at 4:40 am and didn't arrive until 8:40, just literally a couple of minutes before the briefing started - phew!
My 3rd (or 4th?) time at Cadwell Park and it is my favourite track I've driven - well worth the trek - and very relaxed noise limits so no issues there. First time there with this car though, so I booked some (free) tuition for midday.
Lots of cars about - lots of kit cars especially bike engined ones (including another Megabusa). So it was a busy day - and quite a few red flags unfortunately, but dry all day and still plenty of track time.
Car went really well! Fuel issue sorted as I said earlier. In fact, I only took the bonnet off twice to to check the oil (it never used any) and that was that!
Hitting the limiter in 6th again on the two longer straights but a lower ratio rear diff will have to wait (unless anyone got a good price on a 3.14?!).
Had instruction twice... once at around midday and again at 4:00 pm and I was told I'd improved. Turn in later, and with more intent - i.e. properly turn it in, rather than wasting circuit width with turning in too slowly. Avoid wasting time with transition before throttle and brake. Still lots to learn - problem is it all happens very quickly. Anyway, no dramas - no 'offs'.
Few pics to prove it did happen
Yeah, mine is in the background but I do like the foreground

Nice one.
Glad you and the car had an event free day and back in one piece with a smile and a few good pictures!
Have you any more track days planned for this year?

Only Blyton Park in September at the moment but will book up some more later on in June and in to July too.
Need to have a proper look about at what’s available and go from there.
