Hi from Winchester ....

Postby Dave289 » Sun Sep 04, 2016 9:44 am

I have owned a couple of kit cars previously (BRA 289 Cobra replica with Rover 4.6, Formula 27 Lotus 7 replica with Rover 4.6), but I sold both of them in 2010 when I moved from Germany to Dubai.

I bought a Graber La Bala (left-hand-drive with Cadillac Northstar 4.6 engine and auto gearbox) last year and imported it from Oklahoma to Dubai. Just before I got it registered there, I realised that we would have to move back to England for personal reasons, so it is now in a container on the way across to UK, after which I will have to get it registered here.

We are now in Winchester, so look forward to getting out on some of your runs and meeting you soon.

Dave & Maria.

Hello and welcome to SKCC :)

Sounds very interesting, do you have any photos?
Will it need IVA testing when it arrives?

Hi Duncan,

Yes, it will definitely need to pass an IVA test. I am expecting to have to change the headlamps and speedometer, plus get a handbrake fitted (not a requirement for road registration in Oklahoma), but hopefully nothing else.

It's not my friend at the moment... Can't find a replacement for the spacer I lost on Friday

Welcome Dave, look forward to meeting up if I manage to get the gearbox rebuild finished...

That is the later La Bala 2 .... mine is the earlier La Bala 1.

The main difference is the La Bala 2 has opening doors .... the La Bala 1 has a stronger NASCAR-style tubular chassis with side impact protection bars instead of opening doors .... so you have to step over the fibreglass side panels and bars to climb in or out of the car :)
